LOGAN PACED. HE didn’t like it, and being restless made him look like a fool, but he didn’t know what else he was supposed to do after the experience he and Christian had. Though he’d scrubbed himself in the shower, he still swore he smelled Christian on him, and…he liked it. His body was bruised from their painful wrestling, and he spent five minutes after his shower staring at the mirror in fascination. He was marked by Christian, and though the aftermath wasn’t anything new, each purple spot was far more intimate.

The real question was what would happen when Christian returned from dinner. Is he gonna just lay a wet one on me when he enters the room? Will he grab my ass? Will he say it was all a mistake? There was no way to tell, and the vastness of the possibilities terrified him.

He never thought he’d see the day when he was scared of Christian.

The door unlocked, and Logan jumped and stared guiltily at it. But when the door opened to reveal only Noah and Daiki, he deflated and held back a sigh. “Welcome back.”

“Hey!” Noah smiled as he went past. “Feeling better? We asked about you at dinner.”

Shit, Christian, what did you say? “Yeah, I’m fine. Just needed to rest for a while.”

“Good.” Noah touched his arm, squeezing it, and walked by. “I’m going to start on homework. Come get me if you need anything.”

“Sure.” Logan gave a half-hearted wave. Daiki sat on the couch and turned on the TV, and Logan took it as an excuse to go to his room, where he immediately resumed the pacing he hated.

There were more things to consider now—the shape of Christian’s lips, the agility of his tongue, and the whisper-thin sounds he made as he got close to coming. They occupied him for minutes more until there was an unexpected sound: not the door unlocking, but a knock instead. Logan came to his doorframe, then froze when Daiki opened the front door and revealed Kelly Anne.

She fixed Logan with a gaze sharp enough to slice him open and lifted her chin. “I left my Spanish textbook here a few days ago.”

He couldn’t meet her eyes. Running from the scene of their breakup and going straight into Christian’s bed hadn’t been his plan. But everything she’d accused him of, like selfishness and a desire to cheat, was far too real.

He’d done exactly what she predicted. She’d been right all along.

He found the textbook, turning red when he located it beneath one of Christian’s shirts on the floor, and brought it to her. From the doorway she hadn’t moved from, she took the book wordlessly and left, and Logan wallowed for a few seconds in his own pain before shutting the door behind her.

“What’s eating her?” Daiki piped up.

“Nothing.” The word was sand on his tongue. His mouth was gritty and his mind frustrated with how he couldn’t open up to anyone about what happened—no one except Christian. Kelly Anne had filled Logan with an inescapable shame, and he was bound to overflow eventually.
